Elemental Writing

Current Adventure:

A special collaboration with astrologer Lee Horowitz

Saturn & Neptune walk into a bar.

Or

Reality & Fantasy light a match and say, “follow us!”

Or

The Bone Mother & Ocean God: a fiery reunion.

Or

You sign up for a writing & astrology workshop and dream your way into the natural born leader you are.

Or, all of the above! So many possibilities. And in this workshop, we’ll be showing up to make room for them, as well as burning questions like:

  • Who are you, essentially, truly, unedited, unrestrained, uncovered?

  • What might you contribute in this moment in the world?

  • Which rhythms do you need to remember to do this?

  • Where and with whom can you dream big, bold, and bountifully?

This is a gathering for yarn-weavers, word whisperers, and story conjurers. For star-gazers, planet poets, and constellation interpreters. For you who wants to work your imagination muscles and remember yourself as part of a cosmic chorus. Writers and astrology lovers, come ahead because we want to write and dream and work some make-believe magic with you on March 1!

I’m so thrilled that my beloved friend and incredible evolutionary astrologer Lee Horowitz said yes to concocting an offering with me to meet this moment and support us all in it.  And now we hope you’ll say yes to joining us!

Register right here, or read on for all the details.

The impetus

On February 20, we’ll be experiencing the planets Saturn & Neptune coming together at 0 degrees in the sign of Aries.

SaturnRhythm and Time-keeper, Beat-keeper, Bone Mother, the Maker.

NeptuneOcean deity, Dream Dispenser, the Artist, the Believer.

AriesInitiatory Fire, Original Spark, Leader, Innovator, Fool.

A powerful combo. Not just about making, not just about believing. Not just about art and not just about craft. And not just about leadership. But rather, a convergence. About Make-Believe. About Art AND Craft. And how all of that invites us to dream anew into what it means to lead.

Hence our workshop: The Art of Make-Believe & the Craft of Leadership.

It’s a chance for a great reset. A bold rewrite. And not in isolation. We’re inviting you to join us for a time to learn more about this once-in-a-lifetime conjunction, to find your place in this wild moment, to slow down, tune in to regenerative rhythms, to write and share writing, to reflect and play and tend to the fire that is yours, to understand yourself as part of a greater whole.

What happens when reality and fantasy change places? As in what we’ve been told is real, how we should succeed or what success is, what structures and systems we should count on, what’s pragmatic—all of this is unraveling, crumbling, dissolving. And what we’ve been told is fantasy, or impractical or too emotional or a pipe dream or pie in the sky—that all of this is actually the generative, imaginative propulsive power we now need to dream up a new world.

Specifically, we need to re-dream leadership from power over wielded by a handful of people to power among a collective and fueled by the particular potency within each one of us. This doesn’t mean our individual strengths and gifts disappear. Instead, it means we embrace these and understand/live them as part of the collective.

We often hear about and think of Saturn as Father Time, but at 0 degrees Aries, this is a chance to reconnect with the origins of time and rhythm. Not the feeling of being late, not the grind of being on or off the clock, not the breakneck pace of capitalism. But instead re-attuning ourselves to the cycle of seasons, the movement of moon and sun, the flow of inhale and exhale, rise and rest. A return to regenerative rhythms.

What will we be doing when we gather?

We’ll open and close with simple ritual. Move our bodies. Ground and connect. Through the lens of evolutionary astrology, Lee will give us the deep down-low on this potent cosmic moment and how to understand your place in it, including where this transit is happening in your chart and in what house. Jen will share writing lessons from fire and geese and more, and lead us in crafting new leadership stories, identifying the spark that is yours, and learning how to build a sustainable fire from that spark.

You’ll have a chance to connect with other amazing humans, to reflect, to write, and to share writing. It will be a time to play and allow yourself to begin again. At a time when everything is moving fast and furious, this workshop will be an opportunity to slow down and tune into a more sustainable rhythm.

When?

Sunday, March 1, 2026

10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. PST

 Where?

Via Zoom, and if you can’t make the gathering live, you will receive a recording!

Cost: $53 USD and you can step into the convergence right here.

 What else?

  • Along with the recording, everyone who signs up will also receive a sizzling PDF of prompts and practices and resources from the workshop.

  • After you sign up, we’ll be in touch to ask if you already know where this conjunction is happening in your birth chart, and if not, Lee will be available to help you do that before we gather.

The sparks are going to fly, and we’re so thrilled to share this offering with you. Are you ready to say yes to a new beginning?

Lee Marion Horowitz graduated with a masters in speech pathology and went on to work with young, disabled children who were speech and language impaired. She then went on to become a certified massage therapist and reiki practitioner, followed by co-founding the Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center in Hyde Park, N.Y with her husband, Dr Richard Horowitz. Lee’s approach to life is in part based on her studies with enlightened Mahamudra meditation master’s from the Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist lineage. She has studied with them for almost 30 years. Lee is also a master astrologer. She studied the ancient art and science of “Astrosynthesis” and uses a combination of astrology, meditation and inner child work, to help heal deep emotional wounding. Her love and insight allows others to experience self-compassion and healing of body, mind and spirit. Lee has taken her loving, compassionate, joyful energy and put it into her first children’s book, Behind Door Number Now. It is for children ages 6-12, as well as parents and people of all ages, as it demonstrates how to integrate both our joys and our sorrows, so we may grow from all life’s circumstances

It’s elemental, my dear writer. You don’t write alone. You write with the water and fire and earth and air, all of the elements within and around you. You write with the four-leggeds and winged ones, the ones with fins and tails and claws and fangs. You write with the moon, the clouds, and the dirt. In Elemental Writing, these are our guides, allies, companions.

There is no body like you, and there are so many bodies with you. Nothing is separate. Writing is an embodied experience, a flesh-blood-bone-muscle-sweaty devotion that cycles like the seasons. No part of the cycle is better than any other. Play is essential. The sacred is everywhere.

An Elemental Writing adventure is for you if:

  • you want your writing to come alive with sensory awareness.

  • as a writer, you understand or want to understand yourself as one voice amidst a chorus of many animate beings—plants, mountains, oceans, eagles, stone, starlings, desks, foxes.

  • you long for a deeper connection with yourself as part of the animate earth.

  • you thirst for something simple, essential, deep, and true.

  • you’re hungry for a new vital way to work through or into your writing project.

  • you need a course that acknowledges, engages and supports your embodied life as a writer, that puts your work and play as a writer back into your body rather than severing your imagination and your mind from the muscle and breath and blood and bone of you.

  • you know or want to know your stories as living beings.

Jen's soul is deep, and the work she brings forward to the world matches that depth. Her exercises are engaging and innovative, and the tenderness of her heart is matched by the fierceness of her intellect. If something in her call is speaking to you, don't hesitate.

What's generally included in an Elemental Writing adventure:

  • Sessions, often on zoom, with a group of other writer-seekers, during which we’ll do our damnedest to stay aware that we’re not just hands on a keyboard or heads facing screens.

  • a sacred container, held for and with you, in which you can relax and soften into attending to your book or writing project in progress or allowing something new to emerge, or both.

  • shared simple ritual, embodiment practices, and a close encounter with a focal elemental companion.

  • communal writing time in each session, as well as prompts and tools to use for your writing and revising time outside of our time together.

  • the opportunity to share your work out loud, for generative feedback (no critique).

  • a unique writer's immersion in an embodied aspect of the animate earth, exploring the ways this connects with the art, craft, play, and work of writing. We won’t necessarily be writing about these aspects, but rather with them.

  • community with other writer-seekers. The people who show up for Elemental Writing adventures are curious, brilliant, open-hearted, wild & wondrous weirdos, like you.

I love the Elemental Writing sessions. I feel held and inspired, and my writing pours through me. Jen's skillful, humorous, inventive space-holding has sparked a renewal of my creative flow.

Emily, Colorado

By the end of an Elemental Writing adventure, you’ll have

  • a lively collection of lessons and prompts to take with you and use in all phases of writing: dreaming, generating, revising, shaping, resting.

  • deepened your relationship with your voice and the multitude of voices around you.

  • played, experimented, and pushed at the edges of the ways you understand and practice writing.

  • written each week, in community, fueled by community, witnessed and fed by generative feedback.

  • incorporated ritual and embodied awareness into a regular creative practice.

  • cultivated relationships with a wondrous group of other writer-seekers.

Elemental Writing is a space where writers can be heartfelt, heartseen, heartloved and heartbroken with their words. Jen's facilitation is kind and curious, open and tender. I left each session feeling inspired and a bit more free. Thank you so much, Jen!
